Welcome to the Department of Business, part of the Division of Economic and Financial Studies of Macquarie University.
The Department of Business encompasses the fields of marketing, business administration, human resources management and demographics. Academic members of our staff specialise in one or more of these disciplines. This diversity makes us unique, and allows us to offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
At the undergraduate level, innovative programs lead to both general and specialist degrees. A general degree such as Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or Bachelor of Economics (BEc) would suit students who value flexibility in their choice of subjects around a core of studies in economics and commerce. Our specialist undergraduate programs include Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of International Business (BIntB) and Bachelor of Commerce-Marketing (BCom-Mktg). A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management (BHRM) has been offered since 2005.
The BBA program is also taught in Singapore and will soon be offered in Hong Kong. It is possible for students to combine the BBA with BCom, BEc and other degrees such as Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Applied Finance.
At the postgraduate level, we offer both coursework and research programs. Our coursework programs include: Master of Commerce (MCom) in Business and in Marketing, and Master of International Business (MIB). The MIB program is also taught in Hong Kong. We also offer postgraduate research degrees such as MCom/MEc (Honours) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
