Demography

Macquarie University offers a range of degree programs which include a substantial study of demography. Several popular programs are: 

  • Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing and Demographics. These degrees would suit students looking to apply their knowledge of demography in marketing or marketing research. 
  • Bachelor of Economics majoring in Demography. These degrees would suit students looking to combine their study of Demography with study in Economics. 
  • Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Demography. Students may choose demography as their major area of study in this interdisciplinary degree which equips graduates with social science and policy analytic skills. 
  • Bachelor of Arts majoring in Demography. This flexibly-structured degree would suit students looking to combine their study of Demography with study in Anthropology, Human Geography, Sociology or Statistics. 
  • Bachelor of Health. Two of the demography units must be studied as a part of the core of this interdisciplinary degree, and the others may be taken as electives. 

The standard length for all these programs is 3 years for full-time study or 6 years for part-time study. In all programs there is ample room for students to combine their study of demography with study in a wide variety of other areas, for example, social sciences, computing, mathematics, foreign languages or history.
